Youth allowance hearing for Wagga announced

A hearing to discuss independent youth allowance in the Riverina has been scheduled for Thursday May 12, 2011.

Announcing this today, Federal Member for Riverina Michael McCormack said the hearing will give Riverina students affected by Labor's unfair independent youth allowance exclusion the opportunity to have their say.

The hearing will be held on May 12, 2011 from 10:30am to 12:30pm in the Gallery room of the Country Comfort Inn in Wagga Wagga.

Mr McCormack urged all students and their families who cannot access independent youth allowance to attend the hearing, to tell the Review Secretariat how being unable to gain the allowance has affected their ability to further their tertiary studies.

Mr McCormack said he was pleased that a date and venue had been set after the Riverina was omitted from the round of regional meetings being held.

RSVP is a must and can be done so by emailing the Review Secretariat at rsisr@deewr.gov.au
