McCormack encourages volunteers to apply for grants

FEDERAL Member for Riverina, Michael McCormack, has encouraged local volunteers to apply for a grant in the latest round of Federal Government funding.

“Volunteers make an invaluable contribution to the Riverina and grants such as these can assist those people in continuing their good work,” Mr McCormack said.

The 2013 round of volunteer grants have up to $16 million which can assist community organisations to meet the changing needs of their volunteers.

“This funding will aid in the purchase and upgrade of essential equipment and other resources such as training and reimbursement of volunteer transport costs, without which such organisations would not be able to do their important work.”

Applications for grants close on Wednesday 24 April 2013 at 5pm.

They can be lodged with the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs.

Further information can be found on the Department’s website ( or the Volunteers Grants Hotline (1800 183 374).
