Communications spokesman to hold mobile coverage forums

FEDERAL Member for Riverina, Michael McCormack, has announced Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Communications, Paul Fletcher, will next week hold two community consultations in the Riverina on mobile phone coverage.

“Mobile phone coverage is an issue constituents tell me about every day. The blackspots are something we would all like to see improved,” Mr McCormack said.

“This is why the Coalition Government has announced a $100 million fund to improve mobile phone coverage in rural and regional areas nationwide.”

Mr McCormack announced Mr Fletcher will visit the Riverina as part of his tour of communities which are affected by poor mobile phone coverage.

“When Paul Fletcher announced he wanted to see communities which need better mobile phone coverage, I immediately wrote to him and invited him to the Riverina,” Mr McCormack said.

“I have made many representations to Mr Fletcher on behalf of many communities right across the Riverina and am pleased he has accepted my invitation to visit the Riverina and listen to community concerns.”

Mr McCormack and Mr Fletcher will hold community consultation meetings in Tumut and Narrandera next Wednesday 21 May 2014. Details of the meetings can be found over page.

Mr McCormack said RSVPs are essential and has asked people interested in attending to call his Wagga Wagga electorate office on 02 6921 4600 by Monday 19 May 2014.
