Riverina Christmas colouring competition winner announced

The Nationals’ Federal Member for Riverina and Minister for Small Business, Michael McCormack today announced the winner of the 2016 Riverina electorate colouring competition.

The theme for this year’s competition was “Christmas in the Riverina and Central West” and Mr McCormack said that this year’s competition was one of his toughest to judge yet, with close to 1000 entries from across the width and breadth of the newly formed electorate.

“The entries received this year were outstanding which made my task to pick a winner a tough but a very fun one,” Mr McCormack said.

“Year 1 student, Laura Chudleigh from Forbes Public School was the overall competition winner this year and Seb Rees of Year 2 from St Mary’s War Memorial School in West Wyalong and James Smart of Year 2 from Nangus Public School taking out 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

“I was delighted to meet the budding artists, their fellow classmates and teachers at their respective schools over the last fortnight. Each winner was presented with a book and I gladly informed them that their drawings now feature on my Christmas card which soon land on the desks of the likes of the Prime Minister and other notable community and political figures.

“I would like to thank each and every student who sent in an entry. It was especially pleasing to see the high level of participation from students in the new parts of the electorate, that and the number of entries was outstanding.

“I am already looking forward to next year’s competition, thank and congratulate all entrants and the winners.”
