INVESTING IN LOCAL PROJECTS FOR BRIGHTON

Tasmania’s Brighton region will receive $7.7 million worth of local projects thanks to Federal Liberal and Nationals Government funding.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack said $6 million will be invested in the upgrade of the Brighton Regional Sports Centre Facility.

“The funding will go towards the construction of a gymnasium, club rooms, meeting rooms, change rooms, function space, dining area and a commercial kitchen,” Mr McCormack said.

“Local sport is the glue that brings regional communities together and having good sporting infrastructure provides a solid foundation for kids to participate in the games they love and play an active role in our communities.”

The Nationals’ Senator for Tasmania Steve Martin said the Government is also investing $1.7 million in the Bridgewater Parklands Development.

“Works will include landscaping and lighting as well as the construction of new play equipment for the kids and a car park,” Senator Martin said.

Liberal Senator for Tasmania Jonathon Duniam said the community playground will be a valuable asset for local families.

“This new facility will help to increase levels of physical activity, in turn helping locals lead healthier and happier lifestyles through more play, walking and cycling,” Senator Duniam said.
