Coalition Health Spokesman to visit region

1 March 2013

THE Nationals’ Federal Member for Riverina, Michael McCormack, has welcomed the announcement of a visit by Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Health Services and Indigenous Health, Dr Andrew Laming, next week.

Dr Laming will visit Gundagai, where he will attend the opening of a Multi-Purpose Centre. He will then travel to Wagga Wagga to meet with General Practitioners and specialists to discuss regional health.

“I am looking forward to having Dr Laming back in the Riverina,” Mr McCormack said.

“Regional health is a critical issue here, and Dr Laming’s visits to the electorate will help the Coalition ensure regional health services continue to be a top priority.”

Dr Laming practised in the Riverina as a General Practitioner prior to entering Parliament.

“Dr Laming’s long affiliation with the region and understanding of our health service needs make for very productive discussions with local medical professionals,” Mr McCormack said.

“Dr Laming has visited the electorate on multiple occasions and is very interested in ensuring the Riverina’s health services are improved,” Mr McCormack said.

Dr Laming will be in Gundagai and Wagga Wagga on Wednesday 6 March 2013.

Dr Laming and Mr McCormack will have an opportunity to speak with the media from 4pm on Wednesday 6 March 2013 about the region’s health services and plans for a rural medical school.

More details of Dr Laming’s visit will be distributed next week.
