RE-ELECTED Nationals’ Federal Member for Riverina, Michael McCormack, has thanked the people of the Riverina for placing their trust in him for a second term as their representative in Canberra.
“I am humbled by the trust the people of the Riverina have again placed in me,” Mr McCormack said.
“I am delighted with the result and look forward to continue fighting for the Riverina in Government.
“I will continue to be the Riverina’s strong advocate in Canberra and working towards good outcomes for the region.
“With money already allocated for CCTV funding in Wagga Wagga’s CBD, a $2 billion regional investment fund and a $100 million fund to address mobile phone black-spots, I am excited about standing up for the Riverina in a new Government,” Mr McCormack said.
Mr McCormack also praised The Nationals’ increased representation within the Federal Parliament.
“I am very pleased there will be more MPs around The Nationals’ party room table. With Barnaby Joyce elected in New England, David Gillespie elected in Lyne and Kevin Hogan elected in Page I am looking forward to being part of a strong Nationals’ team in the new Parliament.”
Mr McCormack said he will continue to fight for Riverina grain growers and advocate against the proposed takeover of GrainCorp by American multi-national, Archer Daniels Midland.
“As the growers’ voice in the new Government, standing up against the takeover will be a big priority.”
Mr McCormack was back at work in the Wagga Wagga electorate office on Monday morning preparing for a busy week of appointments.
