McCormack calls for more ANZAC grant submissions

18 February 2014

RIVERINA MP Michael McCormack has called for more applications for projects to be submitted as part of the Australian Government’s ANZAC Centenary Local Grants Program.

“The Riverina has $125,000 in funding to commemorate very important occasion in our nation’s history. I encourage local organisations to consider whether this funding can go towards their recognition of the Riverina’s contribution to World War I,” Mr McCormack said.

The Riverina’s ANZAC Centenary Local Grants Committee held a meeting in Griffith last month to consider the applications which have been received so far.

Committee Chairman John Sullivan praised the community’s applications and highlighted how funding could be used to begin projects throughout the region.

“There are some great ideas coming from many individuals and organisations. This is a chance to provide seed funding for many projects across the region and the Committee encourages more people to apply,” Cr Sullivan said.

Mr McCormack said all applications must be received by his office by Monday 31 March 2014.

Application forms and criteria information is available through the ANZAC Centenary website (http://www.anzaccentenary.gov.au/grants/index.htm) or by contacting Mr McCormack’s Wagga Wagga or Griffith electorate offices.
