Have your say on Country of Origin Labelling

24 June 2015

THE Nationals’ Member for Riverina, Michael McCormack, has encouraged locals to have their say on proposals for a new system of food labelling in Australia.

“A proper system for Country of Origin Labelling for food is something The Nationals and I have been pushing for years,” Mr McCormack said.

“I am delighted to see proper proposals now on the table for discussion – but residents must get involved and have their say.”

The six proposals, with several variations on each, are now available online for consumers to offer feedback and rate which is their preferred graphic.

Mr McCormack said residents must act quickly to have their say.

“The community survey closes on Friday 3 July 2015, so please log on to the website and let us know what you think,” Mr McCormack said.

The community survey is available online, using http://www.industry.gov.au/industry/IndustrySectors/FoodManufacturingIndustry/Pages/Country-of-Origin-Labelling.aspx or by contacting Mr McCormack’s Wagga Wagga electorate office.
