Statement on new electoral boundaries

14 January 2016

THE Australian Electoral Commission has finalised the boundaries for Federal Electoral Divisions in New South Wales ahead of this year’s election.

The new boundaries will see eight new Shires come into the Riverina electorate – Cootamundra, Cowra, Forbes, Harden, Lockhart, Parkes, Weddin and Young.

Each of these communities is distinctive and unique and I look forward to putting The Nationals’ case to be their representative in Federal Parliament.

It is the people of our electorate who make my job so special and I am constantly inspired by the conversations and interactions I have with local people every day. I look forward to meeting with as many people as I can in these new communities over the coming WEEKS and months and listening to their ideas and suggestions.

It is a real honour to represent the Riverina electorate in its current form – one of the most diverse and productive regions in the country. From the tip of Mount Kosciuszko to the red soil plains of the outback, ours is a very special part of Australia.

Whilst I will miss the people and communities of the Murrumbidgee and Coleambally Irrigation Areas, the western Riverina and the Snowy Mountains, I will continue to represent every community as best I can right up until the next election.

The Nationals are the only Party solely dedicated to representing regional people and their communities. I look forward to continuing to listen to and work with the people of our region – the one in which I have lived my whole life – as we head into this year’s Federal Election.
