Have Your Say

YOUR CHANCE TO HAVE SAY ABOUT REGIONAL COMMUNICATIONS

4 July 2018

THE Nationals’ Member for Riverina and Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack is encouraging residents in the Riverina and Central West to have their say about telecommunications services in rural and regional areas.

The Regional Telecommunications Review Independent Committee will hold a public consultation in Wagga Wagga at the Commercial Club on Thursday, 5 July from 11.30am to 1pm.

The public consultation enables residents to have their say on how they use telecommunications services and the issues which affect them.

Mr McCormack said it was important for people to share their experiences so the Federal Government can best meet the needs of rural and regional Australia.

“To date, the Liberal and Nationals’ Government has committed 20 new mobile phone towers to address black spots throughout the Riverina and Central West,” Mr McCormack said.

“On top of this, another round of the Mobile Black Spots Program was announced earlier this month. We have delivered great improvements but we know there is more work to be done.

“The public consultation in Wagga Wagga is a great opportunity for people to have their say on communication issues which matter to them.”

The six-member committee is examining regional communications issues closely and how rural Australians can maximise the economic and social benefits next-generation telecommunication services can provide.

The committee, which is accepting written submissions, is expected to report to the Government by the end of September.   More information on the review and the terms of reference are available at: www.rtirc.gov.au.
