Funding opportunity for Riverina

15 November 2011

Round two of the Regional Development Fund is now open for applications and Nationals’ Member for Riverina Michael McCormack strongly recommends Riverina local Governments get on board and take advantage.

The Government will provide $200 million towards projects which address regional issues and priorities, support regional communities and deliver both short and long-term community and economic benefits for local communities.

The Riverina benefited to the tune of nearly $2 million in round one and Mr McCormack is hopeful there will be more funding allocated to worthwhile projects in this latest round.

“This kind of funding would do wonders for our communities,” Mr McCormack said.

“The Riverina is a fantastic area with a great future.

“I urge all Councils to at least apply for the grants as many of the projects being taken on by communities in the Riverina could definitely use the assistance.”

Mr McCormack said grants of between $500,000 and $15 million are available to eligible applicants, with preference given to applications which demonstrate partnership funding on a dollar-for-dollar basis for grant requests more than $5 million.

Eligible applicants must submit Expressions of Interest to their local Regional Development Australia committee by close of business Thursday, December 1, 2011.
