Federal Member for Riverina Michael McCormack is encouraging school students in the Riverina electorate to enter in his 16th annual ANZAC writing competition.
This year’s theme is ANZAC Day: Our past, present and future and is open to primary and secondary students in the Riverina electorate.
Mr McCormack said the competition was an important way in which students can continue to carry on the ANZAC legacy into the future.
“ANZAC Day is the most important day on our national calendar,” Mr McCormack said.
“It is a day when the nation stops to remember to gallantry, service and sacrifice of men and women who have fought for peace and freedom in conflicts all over the world.
“All students who enter will receive a signed commemorative Parliamentary certificate acknowledging their participation.
“Each student judged as a winner or highly commended will also receive a book prize from the Australian War Memorial.”
The electorate will be divided into four regions with book prizes awarded to primary and secondary school student winning and highly commended entries. Each winning and highly commended entry will also feature in this year’s ANZAC Day commemorative booklet, which is distributed mailboxes throughout the Riverina electorate.
Entries can be submitted to Mr McCormack’s electorate office, Suite 2, 11-15 Fitzmaurice Street, Wagga Wagga, or via email to [email protected] by Friday 27 February 2026.
The booklet also contains all the ANZAC Day service times from locations across the Riverina, Central West, Snowy Mountains, South West Slopes and Southern Tablelands.
