Triple M ANZAC Day Message

23 April 2025

E&OE

STARTS: 11.23pm

ENDS: 11:25pm

ANZAC Day comes with special significance for Riverina Veterans this year with the recent awarding of a Victoria Cross for Australia to Richard Norden.

Private Norden’s bravery in the Vietnam War during the Battle of Coral-Balmoral in 1968 deservedly earned him the nation’s highest military honour.

His hometown of Gundagai is erecting a bronze statue of him and as we stop to pause and reflect on the service and sacrifice of so many this ANZAC Day, we in the Riverina will keep Private Norden’s name very much in our hearts and minds, as we should.
Lest We Forget and Thank You For Your Service are not just words we should say on 25 April, but each and every day.
Wagga Wagga has all three arms of service – Air Force, Army and Navy – and the region is proud of its military heritage.
As with Richard Norden VC who passed through the gates of Blamey Barracks, Kapooka, we train the best and bravest to do what is required to keep us safe in a troubled world.
