McCormack raises GrainCorp concerns with new Treasurer
THE first letter on the desk of new Federal Treasurer is calling on him to reject the
proposed takeover of GrainCorp.
Federal Member for Riverina, Michael McCormack, has written to the new Treasurer, Chris
Bowen, regarding the proposed Archer Daniels Midland takeover of GrainCorp.
Federal grants available for Creative Young Stars
FEDERAL Member for Riverina, Michael McCormack, has welcomed just announced funding for
Creative Young Stars grants.
“Similar to the Local Sports Champion grants, the Riverina electorate will have funding for
23 grants of $500 for individuals and four grants of $3000 for teams, allocated over two funding rounds,” Mr McCormack said.
MIA headspace petition tabled
A PETITION calling for a headspace facility in the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area has been
tabled in Federal Parliament by The Nationals’ Federal Member for Riverina, Michael McCormack.
“The petition tells the House that the increasing incidence of mental health issues among
young people in the communities of Hay, Hillston, Lake Cargelligo, Leeton, Narrandera, Darlington Point, Coleambally and Griffith requires urgent assistance by way of a headspace facility,” Mr McCormack told the House of Representatives.
GrainCorp takeover not in national interest: McCormack
The Nationals’ Member for Riverina Michael McCormack has called on Federal Treasurer Wayne Swan to reject a proposed foreign takeover of Australia’s last major publicly-listed grain business, GrainCorp.
“I wrote to the Treasurer last week urging him, in the national interest, to refuse any such deal,” Mr McCormack said.
MP seeks expressions of interest for ANZAC committee
FEDERAL Member for Riverina, Michael McCormack, is seeking expressions of interest for
a committee to determine how the Riverina will spend its ANZAC Centenary Local Grant allocation.
“I will establish a committee of passionate locals to help decide how the Riverina can
best spend its $100,000 allocation,” Mr McCormack said.
Local Sports Champion grants announced
FEDERAL Member for Riverina, Michael McCormack, has announced the winners of the most recent round of funding through the Australian Sports Commission’s Local Sports Champion grants program.
The eight individual recipients have been awarded a grant of $500 while the two winning teams receive $3,000 each.
MP writing competition winners announced
FEDERAL Member for Riverina, Michael McCormack, has announced the winners of his ANZAC writing competition.
Now in its third year ANZAC Day in the Riverina had more than 700 entries from schools across the region.
“This year’s ANZAC writing competition further demonstrated the talent and passion of Riverina students,” Mr McCormack said.
$100k in grants available for ANZAC centenary

THE Nationals’ Member for Riverina, Michael McCormack, has tabled a petition for a headspace centre to be built in Griffith in Federal Parliament today.
“Headspace is a great initiative which is helping address growing mental health needs throughout regional areas right around the country,” Mr McCormack said.
