More flood assistance for Riverina
Residents of Coolamon, Gundagai, Tumbarumba and Tumut shires severely affected by recent flooding can now claim Commonwealth Centrelink payments of $1000 for each adult and $400 for each child.
Federal Gov’t still waiting for State request for flood assistance: McCormack
Many local Government Areas within the Riverina have yet to receive the necessary tick-off from the New South Wales Government in order to receive Commonwealth flood assistance.
These shires include: Bland, Carrathool, Coolamon, Gundagai, Junee, Temora, Tumbarumba and Tumut.
Help available for local flood victims
Residents of Griffith, Leeton, Lockhart, Murrumbidgee, Urana, Narrandera, Wagga Wagga and Young who have been severely affected by recent flooding can now claim Commonwealth payments of $1000 for each adult and $400 for each child.
Flood recovery centre open
A flood recovery centre as been opened in the old Salmat building on Gurwood Street in Wagga Wagga.
“The flood centre has been opened for people who have been directly affected by the recent flooding,” Federal Member for Riverina McCormack.
Riverina on alert as floods hit region
The region is awash after torrential rain in recent days and particularly the past 24 hours with Member for Riverina Michael McCormack urging people to take every precaution to keep safe.
“Ïve had reports of 128 millimetres falling at Rankins Springs and just as much at Mangoplah in a short space of time so the downpour has been widespread,” Mr McCormack said.
The problem is Labor, not the Leader: McCormack
The latest leadership conflict has done nothing more than confirm faceless men are running the Labor Party and an election is needed soon according to Nationals’ Member for Riverina Michael McCormack.
“This is a Government which cares more about internal factions and egos than it does about the issues of most importance to every day Australians; job security and the cost of living,” Mr McCormack said.
ANZAC Day competition 2012
Riverina school students have the opportunity to win fabulous book prizes as part of an ANZAC Day writing competition organised by Federal Member Michael McCormack.
High school and primary students are invited to write an essay, short story or poem of no more than 250 words on this year’s theme: “ANZAC Day in the Riverina”.
McCormack welcomes funding
Nationals’ Member for Riverina Michael McCormack has welcomed Federal funding initiatives for three Riverina high schools.
Kildare Catholic College in Wagga Wagga, Gundagai High, and Tumut High were each rewarded a significant amount of money under the Australian Government’s Trade Training Centres in Schools Program.
