MICHAEL McCORMACK

Well, great to be joined by my three-week old granddaughter, Adeline Bell, with her mother, Georgina, and her father Daniel today, and my wife, Catherine.

Fantastic that democracy is playing its part and already this morning I’ve been to Gundagai High School and Gundagai South (Public School), where there was a good vibe on the polling booths.

There’s 91 polling booths throughout the Riverina and I’m hoping that, obviously, The Nationals can retain Riverina and I can continue to deliver for the people of the Riverina – people who I regard as some of the hardest working people in this nation. I will never denigrate the people of the Riverina. I will always put them first. I will always work for them, and even those people who don’t put a one beside my name, they can know and trust that I will turn up, that I will deliver for them and I will continue to work hard should I continue to be the Member for Riverina. It’s a great privilege and I’m always humbled to serve this region. It’s the region I grew up in, the region I’ve lived in all my life and the region I love.

You can’t do this job without the support and the love of family. I’m very pleased that Georgina, my daughter – this is her sixth election, she turns up every time and now she’s brought her little daughter and it’s fantastic. She’s got her own little “Michael McCormack vote one” onesie on, which is very, very special. And with that, I’m going to do something I’ve never done before. I’m going to kiss a baby during the campaign.

[Kisses Adeline Bell]

There you go, little one – didn’t even wake her up. Are there any questions?

EMILY FRANCIS

No, that’s everything, thank you very much.

Ends 11.14AM
