Making healthier choices when purchasing packaged foods is a whole lot easier now thanks to the Health Star Rating (HSR) system according to the Nationals’ Member for Riverina and Minister for Small Business Michael McCormack.

“The Health Star Ratings are a quick and easy way to compare the nutritional profile of packaged foods, and I am keen for consumers across the Riverina and Central West to keep an eye out for this helpful tool in supermarkets now,” Mr McCormack said.

Independent review of the Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman

A YEAR on from the creation of the office of the Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman (ASBFEO) by the Turnbull-Joyce Government, Small Business Minister Michael McCormack today announced its first independent review.

“The review will look at how effectively and efficiently the Ombudsman has undertaken the role of providing assistance and advocacy for Australian small businesses,” Mr McCormack said.

The Reserve Bank of Australia recently revealed the new design of the $10 note that will begin passing through wallets, purses and cash registers when it goes into circulation in September this year.

Keeping kids’ soccer goals safe

MOVEABLE soccer goals, which are subject to a safety standard due to the risk of toppling over, have been reviewed by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

Grant money to flow to Bland Shire bushfire victims

The Nationals’ Federal Member for Riverina and Minister for Small Business Michael McCormack has welcomed the news that grant money will soon flow to those primary producers across the Bland Shire affected by the devastating bushfires from late last year.

Disaster assistance was announced on 8 March 2017 by the Federal Minister for Justice Michael Keenan and the New South Wales Minister for Emergency Services Troy Grant.

Superfast broadband is now being delivered to the townships of Parkes and Peak Hill as the National Broadband Network (NBN) makes services available to more than 4,600 homes and businesses in Parkes and almost 490 in Peak Hill.

Leading Cowra-based scientist, Dr Benjamin Holman, this week received a grant of up to $22,000 to pursue a cutting edge project called ‘iMeat’, which aims to swap the subjective colour chips used to grade meat in abattoirs with a smart phone app.
