Growing regional jobs in small business through decentralisation

EVERY new job and every new family in rural and regional Australia brings opportunity for a local small business to start or succeed, Small Business Minister Michael McCormack says.

Launching the www.getoutofthecity.com.au website alongside Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce and The Nationals, Mr McCormack said investment in regional communities driven by decentralisation of Government agencies brings a massive multiplier effect to local small businesses.

‘Have a go’: Help for budding Aussie entrepreneurs

NEW products are now available to help young Australians who are starting a business for the first time, Small Business Minister Michael McCormack says.

Coming on the back of a marked increase in young Australians going into business, particularly in industries such as construction, transport, information technology and telecommunications, the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has made the process even easier to help young people have a go.

McCORMACK:   Well as I travel around the countryside – and certainly last year I started a nationwide tour of small businesses with the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in fact – and I was told in most states apart from South Australia, where energy is their biggest issue, that the number one issue was Sunday penalty rates.

Rivwest expansion a new opening for western NSW

AN expansion of Rivwest Finance Limited’s office on Talbragar Street in Dubbo is a new opening for small business in western New South Wales, Small Business Minister Michael McCormack says.

Sending a selfie from Warroo, calling home or contacting emergency services is now possible thanks to improved mobile phone coverage in Warroo according to the Nationals’ Member for Riverina and Minister for Small Business Michael McCormack.

Mr McCormack was joined at a community BBQ today with representatives from Forbes Shire Council, Telstra Countrywide and local residents to celebrate the launch of the new mobile phone tower.

Regions reveal cost of energy to small business roadshow

ELECTRICITY prices almost double that of New South Wales and Victoria sees South Australian businesses significantly disadvantaged, small business owners have told a Regional Small Business Roadshow held by Federal Small Business Minister Michael McCormack. 

In Murray Bridge on the second South Australian stop, Mr McCormack and local MP Tony Pasin met with small business in a tour to hear more about how the Federal Government can help Australia’s small businesses.

Support being provided to Cootamundra meatworks employees

Officers from the Department of Employment and the Department of Human Services have been on hand to help workers affected by the closure of the meatworks in Cootamundra.

The support was mobilised by the Nationals’ Member for Riverina and Minister for Small Business last Friday, immediately after the closure was announced.
